Pressure Treating Formulas

SoyGuard® formulations are being developed for use to pressure treat wood for commercial and residential applications and for industrial applications. Pressure treated lumber is porous and not resistant to moisture and water vapor that causes wood to split, crack and warp. SoyGuard® Pressure Treating Formula provides treated lumber with long-term protection against water absorption, which minimizes swelling and shrinking. Our unique soy-based formula is used during pressure treatment and penetrates throughout the wood to the core of each board or pole.

SoyGuard® Pressure Treating Formula is a carrier solvent and water repellent in one formula developed to provide superior moisture protection for pressure treated wood.

We are currently testing SoyGuard® Pressure Treating Formula with a variety of non-restricted use biocides to be used in above ground and ground contact residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

Testing results and research indicate that SoyGuard® Pressure Treating Formula provides wood and lumber with long-term protection against water absorption, which minimizes the swelling and shrinking of treated wood. Our water repellent penetrates throughout the wood during pressure treatment to the heartwood of each board. Thus, wood pressure treated with SoyGuard® has protection on all surfaces, including the sides and bottom surface normally missed by brush on water repellents.
