Pressure Treated Lumber Isn't Enough
Pressure treated lumber does not protect wood from water, one of wood’s worst enemies.
Pressure treated lumber for exterior, residential use usually contains a biocide such as CCA, ACQ, or Copper Azole to guard against rot and insect damage, but does not protect against the weathering effects of rainwater and moisture. Without proper care and waterproofing, treated lumber can deteriorate from exposure to the elements. Moisture promotes decay, as well as mold and mildew growth. It’s a fact. Pressure treated wood will last longer if it is regularly treated with finishes that increase water repellency, decrease cracking, splitting and weathering, and does not promote microbial growth.
Superior Water Repellent – Two Levels of Protection
SoyGuard® wood finishes provide two levels of protection with one brush stroke. During the drying process, methyl soyate deeply penetrates the wood surface coating wood cell walls with a protective resin coating. At the same time, a small amount of the formula dries on top of the wood surface forming a thin film to protect the wood surface. Thus, if scratches or chips to the wood surface occur, the wood remains protected by SoyGuard®. The result is a wood care product that provides a superior, long-lasting barrier to moisture vapor and rainwater.
Our coating products exceed industry standard ASTM D-4446 for waterproofing wood and anti-swelling effectiveness. SoyGuard® also has more efficient water repellency than leading solvent and oil-based formulas (based on comparative analysis following procedures outlined in ASTM D 5401).
Long Lasting Performance
SoyGuard® outperforms leading clear waterproofing products made from solvent and waterborne systems and is guaranteed to prevent water damage for up to 2 years. SoyGuard® prevents the absorption of moisture into wood maintaining a dry condition which discourages the formation of mold and mildew and minimizes wood cracking and checking. Our formula does not form a thick film finish and will not peel, crack or flake.
Multiple Uses
SoyGuard® can be used on virtually any type of exterior wood or wood product. The most common residential applications include decks, fences, log homes, sheds, shake roofs, wood siding, yard and garden furniture, and children's play sets.
Single-Coat Application
Only a single thin coat of SoyGuard® is required to effectively protect wood.
